First unveiled as a concept car back in 2007, the Hyundai Veloster is now just a couple of months away from its official UK launch. This hugely innovative coupe has already received its first award – a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests, achieving a class-best 96 per cent rating for occupant safety.
The Veloster is the sixth consecutive new Hyundai to score full marks in Euro NCAP’s stringent testing programme.
Named after a combination of “velocity” and “roadster”, the Veloster was officially unveiled as a production car earlier this year. Its extraordinary design incorporates three seats – two at the front and one at the rear – with one door for each occupant.
This asymmetric design is a relatively new phenomenon, and the Veloster continues the theme of innovation by introducing Hyundai’s first six-speed double-clutch transmission and a new 1.6-litre petrol engine.
