The start of next year will see the Scottish debut of Jeep’s searing new Grand Cherokee SRT8. Bringing Jeep’s “Street and Racing Technology” to the 4×4 market, this 6.4-litre V8 muscle car is capable of hitting 60mph from a standing start in well under five seconds, making this the most powerful production Jeep ever.

The 470bhp, 6.4-litre Grand Cherokee SRT8 is the most powerful production Jeep ever, hitting 60mph in under five seconds.
Standing on 20-inch aluminium wheels, and lowered by 3cm compared to less powerful Grand Cherokees, the SRT8 oozes menace, from its deeply flared bonnet vents to its 10cm exhaust vents.
Yet the interior is the last word in luxury, with a dual-pane sunroof, adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring among the standard specifications. Jeep’s acclaimed Quadra-Trac four-wheel drive system is retained for tackling the rough stuff, while the SRT8’s thunderous 470bhp powerplant is kept under control by vented Brembo brakes, allied to active suspension damping with five selectable modes for specific driving conditions.
