Having gone on sale just a couple of weeks ago, Suzuki’s latest version of the popular Swift Sport has already notched up its first award. Automotive oracle What Car? decided that the flagship Swift should receive a ‘Best Buy’ award in the sub-£15,000 hot hatch sector, underlining its driver-focused nature.
The new Swift Sport makes numerous advances on its predecessor, with better torque from a new Euro 5 petrol engine. At the same time, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions have both dropped by ten per cent, with the insurance rating falling four groups from the old model.
Another notable change – in every sense – is the introduction of a new six-speed manual gearbox. Safety remains a core component of the Swift’s appeal, with seven airbags and a stability programme fitted as standard, while toys include privacy glass, Bluetooth connectivity, 17-inch alloys and HID projector headlamps.
